This Earth Day, we're asking residents to consider everyday conservation, especially around the home, yard, and water pipes. You don’t have to overhaul your lifestyle to make a positive difference, small steps have a big impact. Here are a few simple ways you can help conserve water and care for the planet:

Water Smarter:

  • Water early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation.

  • Use a rain sensor or moisture meter to avoid watering when your lawn doesn’t need it.

  • Group plants with similar water needs together to avoid overwatering.

  • Use native plants that are adapted to the Texas climate, as they require less water in the summer months.

Fix Leaks:

  • A running toilet can waste up to 200 gallons of water a day.

  • Check outdoor spigots and irrigation systems regularly for slow leaks.

  • Monitor your water bill. Unexpected spikes can signal hidden leaks.

Upgrade Your Green Routine:

  • Mulch around plants to retain moisture and reduce watering needs.

  • Swap thirsty grass for drought-tolerant native plants in low-traffic areas.

  • Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of hosing them off.

We are grateful for our Earth’s resources, and our district is committed to maintaining those resources for current and future generations. Being a good steward of the earth starts at home. Every drop, and every effort, counts.
